Growing Old Peacefully
Ways to GROW old happily!
15 Feb 2008
Lately, I have been surrounded by live experiences of people growing old. Watching, helping and thinking about growing old really takes some planning and thought to retire happily. I am not talking about stocks, shares, mutual funds or buying real estate in this blog. More I aim to address the 'inner-workings' and investments needed to retire happily in peace, unity and love.
My parents are at the age of the elderly and I can see that despite my Mother wisely having not one but two pensions and though she attends Church religiously on a weekly basis she lacks peace, love and unity! Do you have a similar experience?
Getting old peacefully, is actually difficult but not impossible! It requires one essential component - YOU! If you have never met YOU, who are you, where you are now and where YOU want to go, YOU will never find peace, love and unity. Daily you can read over the Internet or in your local news people of all ages unhappy, miserable, drugged, addicted and imprisoned in pews, prison, jails, relationships, marriage and work. So the odds against YOU growing old happily is largely determined by YOU and not to be left to anyone else.
If we are honest within, we can agree the world is a miserable, difficult and unhappy place! It is likened to a horror movie DVD of how most people hate, sin, lie, cheat, steal, destroy and kill! Even the ozone layer filled with toxic emissions gets killed or destroyed by people! Therefore, getting old peacefully requires expert navigation how to avoid destructive, evil people. Such people can be found in all walks of life (even in the pews) who make no apologies for their mindsets or actions. How can they? When one is foolish or evil they have rejected and failed to embrace wisdom, love, kindness or good? They believe threatening, denying, abusing or rejecting people is cool!
I don't now about you but if you are reading the same pages of the Internet or Cable TV I am watching then you should see teens and adults of all ages are LOST IN THE WORLD! They have no idea what Parenting, School, Church, Marriage, Love, Peace, Unity, Investing, or Happiness is all about. Perhaps, all these years of living even if you are 18 or 90yrs old you have been living with the wrong mindset, beliefs, habits, politics or religion? If so, it is now time to erase all your thoughts (like a PC database) and start anew! This is as easy as writing down on a large sheet of paper from birth: where you are now? Then read it, pray over it, ponder it and then now write your future (using positive affirmations) I will, I shall, I must be etc... etc... etc...
This is what works in the now! This is what can set you FREE WITHIN! I know this for sure! And when you have completed all of the above then you can place them all in a bottle, take a long peaceful walk and throw them into the deepest or longest river or sea. This is also liberation! You are liberating yourself of the old attitudes, memories, feelings of guilt, shame, failure or defeat! If you are serious, you need to do this at least once per year! Everyone even a Professor or a Pastor needs cleansing of the mind, soul and spirit. If you want to GROW OLD happily start reducing the baggage, blame, shame, curses, failures and stress of everyday living! If your children. parents of family have angered or disappointed you pray for them that spite-fully 'abuse' or 'use' you and move on happily within.
Happiness as well as unseen spirit is also an exercise! Unless you use and develop it you will suffer in living! I have made the wise decision if I cannot make you happy regardless of my association or family tie I am departing in fear of losing my peace, love, unity and happiness within! I have grown to experience at least one truth regardless of your wealth, fame or popularity only YOU alone will grow old! YOU can only plan, pray and hope your children, friends or family will support and be by your side.
In closing, isn't it strange how we run the race of living in the world only to get old, frail and return unto dust again? This again is regardless of wealth, ethnicity, popularity or fame? I believe another good exercise for people of all ages is to visit the nearest cemetery and read the tombstones of people who have passed. Perhaps then you will see how fragile and precious living is and kick you into pondering the after-life and now.
Have a great day!
